CPU School Board Approves Playground Project
At the March 27, 2024 school board meeting, the Center Point-Urbana School Board approved replacing the playground structure at the district’s Primary School.
The CPU Community School District is contributing $220,000 through Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) funds. In addition, the PTO raised $155,000 through sponsorships and donations to assist in the effort to replace the playground equipment.
The project, estimated to cost a total of $375,000, will tentatively begin later this spring and is anticipated to conclude before the start of the 2024-25 school year.
“It’s exciting to reach this phase of the project,” said John Elkin, Superintendent. “We are so grateful for the community’s support and generosity and the hard work of staff and volunteers. The new playground structure will be a highlight for students as they return to school in the fall.”
The existing playground equipment at the Primary School needs to be updated and replaced to maintain quality recreational and outdoor play spaces for students. The new structure will provide an inclusive and adaptable environment that supports the development and nurturing of all students.
