Hocking to Serve as Interim Superintendent as Board Continues Search Process
CENTER POINT, IA — Pat Hocking has been selected to serve as interim superintendent of the Center Point-Urbana Community School District for the 2025-26 school year.
The CPU School Board has approved a contract with Hocking to fill the role following careful consideration of available candidates and potential sharing agreements with the Area Education Agency or other districts.
Hocking brings more than 30 years of experience in school administration. He recently served as interim elementary principal in Olin CSD and previously was superintendent in the Lisbon and Springville CSDs. Prior to that, he was superintendent and principal in Northeast Hamilton CSD.
Hocking’s ties to the district include his wife, Melissa, who serves as the Director of School Improvement and Special Services at CPU.
“Pat’s administrative experience and knowledge of our local community helps bring a deep understanding of educational leadership to this interim role,” said Board President Nick Larson. “His track record and dedication to student achievement, staff development, and operational excellence make him exceptionally well-suited to lead the district during this time of transition.”
The School Board will begin the process of searching for a permanent superintendent this fall.
“We look forward to the continued support and engagement from the staff, parents and members of the community,” said Larson. “We are excited about the opportunities ahead when it comes to our district leadership and the important projects coming up.”
In July, the district will continue the process of selecting a contractor for the capital improvement projects, which will enter the design phase later this summer.
Hocking will begin serving as interim superintendent effective July 1, 2025.
