Intermediate School
Mr. Dirk Troutman grew up in Sumner, IA graduating from Sumner High School in 1988. He continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies Education in the spring of 1993 and his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2002.
Mr. Troutman taught high school social studies and coached in the Anthon-Oto Community School District for a year where he also served as the head volleyball coach and assistant girls basketball coach. He then taught high school social studies at Carroll High School for over 20 years. At Carroll High, Mr. Troutman coached high school football, middle school basketball and wrestling and varsity baseball for 18 years.
For the past ten years, Mr. Troutman has served as a Principal in the Glidden-Ralston and Fort Madison district schools. Mr. Troutman was hired to serve as Intermediate School Principal in the Center Point-Urbana district in the spring of 2025.
Mr. Troutman and his wife Beth have three children. Noelle and her husband Chong-Jin live in Cedar Falls where she works as an associate professor in the political science department. Emma lives in Des Moines and works as a CPA. Their son Jack, recently graduated from Iowa State University and he will begin his teaching career in the Springville Community School District in the fall of 2025.
Mr. Troutman is very pleased to be back in eastern Iowa where many in his family are located and is excited to be a “ Stormin Pointer”!
